Newbie Paintball - What you need to know

New to Paintball
What you have probably know by now is that, paintball is a team sport. The basic objective of the game is to eliminate the opponents by 'marking' them with paint, and grab their flag back to your station. Basically thats the most of it. Then there are variations to the ruling and format which is another whole new story.

Let's play ball!
Grab a few friends, say around 8-10 players so that you can play each other, with 4-5 players per team. I'd recommend bringing your friends and play with each other as they probably have the same skills level as you. Try not to play walk-on games and play with those seasoned players - you'll get mowed over and over, and that is NOT fun.

Equipments, Rates & Costs
Now that we have the locations of these parks, let's see how much money we need to play a few decent games with friends.

Generally across all centers, the costs are as follows.

Starter pack Costs: RM45 - RM60
Includes
Goggles
Mechanical Marker
100~200 pellets

with additional RM50~RM60, you can get extra 100 pellets.

If you want to purchase pellets in cases, the price varies from center to center. The price varies from RM200 ~ RM350 per case (2000 rounds) and differs if you're a member of that center or not.

But generally, the costs are more or less the same. Call up each center to get the best price for you and your friends. They usually charges less if you're in a large group or corporate events.

Rental Equipments
Don't expect high-end markers or goggles like the ones you see in paintball magazines, videos or photos when you come to these centers. Unless if there are high-end stuffs up for rentals (especially markers), then you have to stick with basic rental equipments. They are not bad actually.

Tippman Custom 98

Pretty basic entry marker. Highly durable and accurate. Small profile.

Kingman Spyder TLX

Lighter than the Tippman but with slightly taller profile. Shoots faster.

Safety
Rental markers are usually choroned at 260~270bps (balls-per-second). Anything more than 300bps is deemed dangerous and illegal. The marshals will always advise you to keep your barrel plug/barrel socks ON all the time, when you're not in the field. Only when the marshal says "Socks off" then only you take it off. Otherwise, always keep it on. This is safety priority.

Don't joke around with markers to your friends, like pointing at them or behaving like a terrorist (you know, shooting in the air style). Always treat them as LIVE weapon. You want to play safe right? We had cases last time, when newbies accidently shoots their friends OFF the field. You might make somebody blind.

And of course, standard basic rental goggles. Nothing fancy there. Keeps your eyes safe though. There are alot of rental brands, so you might get different goggles from different centers. Here's an example.

Vent Helix

Teams
Okay, now you know what to expect from paintball centers, let's start playing. When you have players to make two teams, try to make them wear the same shirt/jerseys for each teams. Makes identifying team mates easy, behind those goggles, you can't tell whose who. You might shoot your won team mate! it happens! LOL!

What you need to wear:
1. Long sleeve shirt/jersey
2. Long pants (cargo, track pants, sweat pants etc)
3. Shoes (running, sneakers, boots - no metal studs)
4. Lots of drinking water
5. Spare clothes & towel

Game on!
There ya go. All the things you need to know to start playing paintball. Read the rule book or ask the operator. Play safe and have fun.

Tournament Paintball - What you need to know

The Formats
Here in Malaysia, the main format for tournament Paintball is the 5-man format. The National Paintball League (NPL)Malaysian Paintball Official Circuit (MPOC) adopts these format in their league. The NPL feeder series (Pahang Open, Mayor's Cup, etc) are also based on the 5-man format and tournaments such as the Werdna Hol Cup & Junior Sports Carnival (JSC) adopts the 3-man format. There are also numerous lesser known tournament out there but mainly there are in these formats. Last year, the NPL introduced the 7-man NPL Super7 tournament and it was a roaring success. Perhaps we'll see it again this year.

The Game

Players getting ready to start the game

In any format, each team starts at the starting gate with the barrel of their markers touching the gate. After a 10-sec countdown the Ultimate Referee will signal the game to begin. A typical 5-man format game duration is about 5-minutes and 3-man is about 3-minutes.

Players starts to shoot as soon as the Ultimate Refs called the Game On!

The objective of the game is to capture the enemy flag and hang in back at your starting gate. In order to do so, you have shoot out and eliminate the opponents. Players found with paint marks on their bodies or equipments will be regarded as 'dead' and will be called out by the referees.

The NPL game rules can be downloaded here.

Why do people play tournament Paintball?
Some things you just can't get during normal weekends in the field. People play tournament paintball for several reasons:

1. To be the Champion
2. To win lots of money
3. To earn respect from fellow paintballers.

Other reasons I can think of, it's always a carnival/party atmosphere at the tournament! You get to meet the other 40+ teams, you may get interviwed by TV, Papers & Magazines, you might meet VIPs, artistes & celebrities and it's like going to a huge gathering of paintball families.

Getting Started - Your Equipments
Say you got a regular friends who play paintball in the weekends and now decided to play tournament paintball. And you wonder what sort of equipments do paintballers have and needed. Things that you don't know what to call, but you see it everytime. Let's take a look at my gear bag for this instance. I'm a Division 1 player, so my gears might be different from those who are in Div 2 or Div 3. Sooner or later, your gears could get to something like mine or even more.

Okay, I've labeled all the items and lets get into details.

1. Goggle
Or face mask some of you calls it. This is a MUST in paintball. You have to protect your eyes. Safety is crucial in this sport in order to enjoy it. Never ever take off your goggles in the field, until it is deemed safe by the officials. Also, you might cause your team to automatically lose if this happened. SO be careful.

2. Sandana/Bandana/Headgear
Most of the reasons new players wear this is because they looked cool and its paintball fashion. But the truth is, it help to protect the back of you neck to a certain extend and also keeps the forehead dry of sweat, so that your goggles won't slip off easily.

3. Jerseys
Tournament paintball nowdays encourages players & teams to wear bright, colourful jerseys instead of military like outfits with camouflages. NPL has banned those with military type outifts in order to make Paintball a legitimate sport - not wargame. There are colours that could not be used in a jersey such as Pink, Orange & Yellow, cause most paint fills are of these colours.

4. Pants
Paintball type pants are the best. They are made to withstand slides and made out of the toughest fabric. Easy to wash, light and they looked cool too!

5. Gloves
Optional. Some players like to wear, so that they can grip the marker easily. It helps to lessen the pain when you're hit on the knuckles.

6. Knee/Shin guards
Protects the knee and shins, when you do knee slides, crawling or whatever.

7. Harness/Pack
This holds your ammo or pellets in pods. The one shown carries up to 7 pods with 140 pellets in each one. You can also get harness of different configuration and sizes to suit your playing style/position.

8. E-Marker/Gun
Electronic marker are pretty much allowed in all divisions in the NPL. Like the one shown, can shoot up to 20~25bps (balls-per-second). Different league format has different marker settings. Please check rules & regulations. The marker above is shown with a 68cu/4500psi high-pressure tank. It can shoots up to 7 pods in a single fill. You may get more with different marker or if its tuned perfectly.

9. Force feed loaders/hoppers
Fast markers need to have paint feed into them equally fast. Battery powered loaders/hoppers, can force feed paint up to 25bps! The faster you can feed, the more you can shoot!

10. Elbow pads/guards
Help to soften the bumps when you're crawling or laying low.

11. Swabs/squeegees
Helps to clean barrels when you paint breaks in your barrel or marker. A quick way to clean the barrel when you in a game.

12. Toolbox/Batteries
To store all your batteries, screws, spare parts, o-rings, lubes, allen-keys, screw drivers, masking tapes, white-tapes, tissues etc.

There you have it. Everything a paintballer needs in order to get into tournaments. Of course it helps to have everything in twos. Two loaders, two markers, two goggles, etc... you never know when one might broke down and you needed a backup.

Costs?
Expensive. To have everything new costs alot. In the region of thousands of ringgit! The ones shown are collected over the years. Some of it are used items. As long as you know what you're buying, and knows how to fix it. But there's good news. Every year it keeps getting cheaper and cheaper! Yeay!

For newbies to start a team, I recommend you guys get the following things first. 1, 3 & 7 first. You need pods for the harness though. Once you started winning tournaments, you may want to decide to go for more challenging tournaments or divisions. Next get a marker, loader & tank. From there on, slowly get other things.

If you guys have any questions or comments, do let us know. If you need some guidance, we would gladly help.

Paintball is a serious sport! Don't let others tells you that its not!

Peace out!

NPL Klang Day 2

Day 2 was supposed to start off with the knockout stages but due to the rain that poured on Saturday evening, the organizers brought it forward. MC Pian had already informed everyone that the games that are brought forward would start at 7.45am. Probably some of the teams had already been eliminated or made it to the next round without having to finish of the remaining games, so there were lots of walkovers. In Division One it's a different story, those with remaining preliminary games played for win so that they could avoid being in the stronger bracket in Quarter Finals.
The QF stage is an extremely tricky stage, don't think for one second that you've got two wins you're guaranteed a spot in the semis. At this stage, each and every point counts especially if the games are very close in your bracket. So when you win, make sure that at least 4 or 5 of your players remain alive or if you have to lose or draw one game, inflict maximum damage to your opponents.
Our bracket consisted of Demonz, Ronin and Tag Effect, while the other group had Nemesis, Delta Rovers, Black Widows and Perlis Hunters. We're pretty confident that we could notch up a win against Ronin and Tag Effect but Demonz would be very tricky. Our game for the quarters would start off with Ronin then Demonz and finish off with Tag.
Before we went in against Ronin, Tag was facing off with Demonz. Suprisingly though, Tag Effect won over an unusually loose Demonz. This turn of events was not what a lot of people expected but that's what makes it exciting. For WK, we're about ready to get down with the biznez of killin' fools.
The game against Ronin was crazy! On the break we managed to clip one Ronin and all our players made to their bunkers without being marked. Then we managed to get another two through the snake side but lost two as well - Loco & Jr. Caranthir & Kherox were in the 50s while Kaymo were not too far behind at the 30s. Then came a rather dissapointing show of gamesmanship by our opponent . Caranthir alleged that a Ronin had been shot before he raced on the left side of the field trying to avoid being checked. At the same time, Kaymo was onto him, marking him everywhere but the marshalls still did nothing to halt the advancing 'cheater'. An inexperienced and overly excited ref finally pulled the 'cheater' out and wanted to pull Kaymo out as well. Lucky for him (the inexperienced ref) Mohsin intervened, otherwise Kaymo would've shot the ref himself. Seriously it should've been a 1 for 1 call against Ronin!!! In the heat of the moment, Kherox was taken out leaving only Caranthir and Kaymo left - not good. Caranthir managed to take out Ronin's last man and grabbed the flag. Unfortunately for Kaymo, he had to be pulled out because his pack had shots on it - another "I Killed My Brother" incident for him! WK won but it was an expensive win which was at the expense of 4 players.
We only had a few minutes to re-air, reload and rehydrate before MC Pian called us in again to face Demonz. We're up first then it would be Tag Vs. Ronin. We started off pretty well against Demonz but once we started losing players the whole fort just crumbled. Again, we managed to get their frontman Terry but not the rest of the gang. Credit to Demonz for really playing tight which has got to be the hallmark of their strategy. Poor Loco had to fight off four marauding Demonz before being pulled out. Nevertheless, we lost to a really good team but it would've been better if we took some of them Demonz down with us as well.
It would take quitesome time before the next and final QF game against Tag which virtually ran over Ronins with a 100-0 score. So now we've got Tag who has pulled off two wins which has very much confirmed their place in the semis - NOT!!! Demonz and WK are tied with one win and one loss but the former has the upperhand with a better body count record.
Demonz was up first against Ronin when the QF for Division One restarted. Like WK, Ronin managed to get only one Demonz player in their loss. It didn't matter for us, we know that we've still got a shot in the semis but unfortunately though we didn't keep count on the score. With Demonz winning against Ronin, they've sealed their place in the Semi finals. WK still has a chance to eliminate Tag Effect and go into the next round; only if we beat them by 98 points.
As mentioned before, we went in not knowing what was needed of us to go into the next round. Tag was definitely going for a defensive posture in order to protect their lead against us and knowing that attacking us would be very detrimental. Off the break we managed to get into our bunkers safely but breaking down the very defensive Tag was very difficult. We killed them off one by one but at the same time we lost some players as well. Kaymo couldn't move forward as the paintballs he had, messed up his loader causing erratic accuracy. Kherox finished off the remaining Tag players and Kaymo hung which was probably the final flag of the day for the team.
We went back to our tent and sat there cleaning our equipments at the same time wondering if we could make it into our first semi final since NPL UM. MC Pian's announcement few minutes later confirmed that WK would not move to the next round. The teams that advanced to the Semi Final stages were Demonz, Tag, Nemesis and Delta Rovers. Demonz would be facing Delta Rovers (a very fiery match that one - accusations of cheating, playing on, wiping etc.) and Nemesis squares off against Tag Effect (Benny injured his back during this match and had to be taken to the hospital by an ambulance. We wish him a safe & speedy recovery).
For the first time this year, Demonz won the tournament, Nemesis were second and Delta Rovers took their first podium with a third place finish. Looks like the race for the Overall Champion title is still up for grabs, who knows probably WK will win the final two legs hehehehe....
Overall, I'd say we had a great tournament despite the team's shortcomings. We are actually improving, if compared to Kuantan our QF result was much better. Yeah we know, we have to try harder and suppose that we should be more careful in our gameplay. One point that we would like to raise though is we are seeing players being more daring to cheat .We hope that the refs could be more tougher on their calls against these cheaters, if it was a 1, 2 or 3 for 1 then call it so! Do not be afraid of the backlash, as long as you know that you did the right thing by removing the f'ing cheater! We saw one of the games, this particular team from our observation plays on even though having been obviously shot and they'd wait until the ref comes to pull them out. Well Karma was in full effect on that particular game, their opponents got away doing it which incensed the hell out of 'em. Guess it was ok for them to do it, not anyone else.
Warning to our future opponents: Cheat against us and we'll f'ing murder you!!! We love to 'bonusball' cheaters...

NPL Klang Day 1

The 3rd series of the National Paintball League returned to the Klang Valley and it was held in a large public field in Pandamaran, Klang. This township is home to the Selangor royal family (it’s called Bandar Di Raja – Royal Town) and boasts world class sea port facilities. It is also famous for its seafood restaurants located nearby the ports (WK says nothing could rival Pak Su’s seafood restaurant in Kuantan, Pahang!!!)

Yep, we almost missed the boat for this leg because we didn’t have enough players to compete. As mentioned in the previous blogs, the team (excluding me and loco) went to play in the Pekan Fest tournament. WK won of course but it took quite a toll on the players – physically and financially. Gotta thank Kherox for deciding to forego his ‘holiday’ because without him the team would be in tatters in Klang.

There were rumors circulating that NPL Klang would witness the return of teams like Manawave, Assasin X, Raskal, Xtioneers / Mayhem etc. that are participating in ‘the other’ tournament. Well, that is why they call it rumors because it didn’t happen. It would have been great to have these teams playing again in NPL’s Division 1 because it would make it even more competitive and exciting. This time around though, Werdnahol was not participating because they played in PALS Taiwan.

Nonetheless, NPL is still ‘THE’ tournament to play in Malaysia because the organizers have done nothing but excellent work in organizing it. Even though there were minor glitches, their crew worked tirelessly to over come it. This leg also saw the organizers fielding brand new bunkers which they received few weeks earlier. They could’ve used the old ones (they’re only 1 years old by the way) but with the attention and sponsorships that the league has attracted, the organizers decided to invest on new ones.

Alright, let’s get back to WK. For this leg, WK only has 6 players as Nizam returned to play with his own team – Armada. How did we fare? Here’s our take on each game we played in Klang…

WK’s first game in Klang was against Delta Rovers. We played poorly in this game and deservedly lost. Jr was taken out earlier on and the rest was picked off one by one in matter of seconds. To tell you the truth, we seriously didn’t remember much for this game.

Our break (and streak) came in the second game against MacDev Ronin. On the get go we managed to take out one of them but they managed to even out the numbers by taking out Jr in the snake. Loco and Kherox made a move on the flanks managing to hold the Ronins advance. When Loco was taken out, Kaymo moved in from the left and took out Terry in the 50s. With Terry out of the way, Kherox and Caranthir moved up picking players along the way. Kherox got taken out while try to eliminate Ronin’s last man. Caranthir hanged the flag for the team marking our first win with 94 points for this tourney.

We then faced off against the Northern Lions of Perlis Hunters. Rather surprised to find out that Matthew, a former Bandit, playing with them. Nonetheless, we were pumped up after our first win and hell bent on winning. Again, we managed to clip one hunter on the break but they were relentless. They sent 2 players in the snake and Matt moved up on the left through the doritos. We were just soaking up everything that they were dishin’ out to us and fought back with tenacity. It was just chaos, one by one; players from each side were taken out left, right and center. Loco took out 1 snake player and tried to take Matt but ref ruled in favor of the latter. Matt then was taken out by Kherox but after few seconds got clipped by another hunter in the snake. Kaymo had to fend off the advancing snake from the back center which was actually the hunter’s last man. After cautiously moving up and realizing he’s the only player left on the field, Kaymo grabbed the flag and raced to the other end of the field. While being checked by the refs after the flag hang, Kaymo suddenly passed out and had to be brought off the field by the refs. He recovered and continued to play in our next game against Blackwidows.

Blackwidows in Klang were without Soon and Solo, also former Banditos, as they’ve left for greener pastures elsewhere. Heard they’re still playing but not sure with which team, we are looking forward to see them and their new team in action. Against the MBPJ outfit, it was a no contest and it would be a major surprise if we had lost against them or won badly. Loco hanged the flag for WK, we won with all bodies up and lots of time to spare. Next!!!

Hungry for more wins!

The other games that we played were after lunch break and we were left with only five players as Caranthir had to leave due to personal commitments. Luckily we had all 6 WK playing in Klang, otherwise it would have been a mammoth task to qualify for Sunday.

Our next opponent would be team Demonz which is one of the teams playing in the NPL 1st Division that we find difficult to beat no matter how hard we tried (probably we didn’t even try hard enough hehehehe…). Pot, a former WK player now with Xtioneers, is guesting for Demonz in Klang. Probably we were ‘cold’ after the lunch break so our concentration was not 100%. During the break, Loco accidentally shot Kaymo so WK only had 4 man on the field and with an opponent like Demonz, that’s LOCO!!! Jr. got clipped when he already crawled halfway through the snake. Loco made a move on the left and managed to get Demonz front man Terry (seems that he was the only one going forward for the team). Loco was eliminated soon after that and he was also joined by Harry who got shot waiting in a bumper. Now Kherox is left all alone at the back fending off the marauding Demonz. It didn’t take long for the Demonz to eliminate Kherox and from here on end; we were on a downward slide.

Nemesis, whatever you may think of them, they’re really good. Div 2 champs last year and this year they’ve got a chance to be the runaway winners for the Div 1 title. Even Demonz find it difficult to break this team down especially if it’s on Sunday because this is when they really step up their game. After the disastrous outing against Demonz, we decided to play our own game because we found out that if we change our game play to suit the opponents, we’re as good as dead. Kherox was eliminated early in the game when he got shot in the leg but the rest of us got to our bunkers safely. Jr and Harry were in the bumper while Kaymo manned the center back and Loco at the back right corner. After a while we started to lose our ground, Harry got shot and Jr. got clipped in the temple beside the bumper. Now there’s only Kaymo and Loco on the field and we didn’t even get any Nemesis on the body count. The situation was too hot; Kaymo got shot on both flanks. Loco was the last man, and in the melee he managed to down one Nemesis but that was the one and only opponent we were able to get. Last man Loco was taken out shortly after that.

Now it’s even, we’ve got a hat trick of wins and 3 losses. Our next game, a game that we just had to win to secure our place for Sunday’s elimination rounds, was against Tag Effect. We started off great, all of us made into our bunkers and we even managed to get one Tag at the same time. When things settled down, both sides got onto each other taking out players with each exchange of fire. Loco’s move on the left took out one Tag but he got hit at the same time. Jr meanwhile did his biznes in the snake, he also got hit after marking out an opponent. Kaymo was holding down a left dorito in the 30s trading fire with one Tag in a mirror bunker. Kherox charged down the snake side and managed to get a Tag in that area – Benny. Or so that was what we thought, the marshals cleared Benny but eliminated Kherox. Benny got to Kaymo who was unaware of the events that had happened. Benny’s teammate hung the flag on the other side and we watched the refs cleaning off Kherox’s work on Benny. We went to the head ref, Mohsin, protesting the call to clear Benny. Our argument was simple, how in the hell was Benny cleared when there were obvious hits all around? We would’ve agreed if both players were eliminated. That incident left a sour note in our tournament in Klang but shit happens, nothing could've been done anyway even if we had protested like madmen.

Now its 4 losses against 3 wins, not good numbers to have at that time. How we wished it was the opposite. However, looking at the points on the board, we’re set to proceed to Sunday. That was not the case though for our next opponent, Armada. For the NPL’s first ever tournament winner – The Pre-NPL Tournament, they’re already out of NPL Klang even if they win their next match with 100 points. Things have not gone right for Armada this year; they crashed out in the first leg and were not able to compete in the second. Chip aka Nizam has returned to Malaysia for good to lead the team again but seems that Armada is in need of a total shakedown. We’d love to have Chip and Batosai on the team because in the numerous occasions that they’ve guested with WK, they were able to give us even more options at the back and forward. (Get the hint hahahaha….)

Our game against Armada was a fast one, not because they had no mood to play anymore. It was freaking raining with lightning strikes coming nearby with each passing minute; we want to play but don’t want to die playing! WK won with Kherox being the only casualty. That signaled the end of Day One. Now we had to contend with the pouring rain which subsequently caused some games on Saturday to be postponed to Sunday.

Mud fest - Lolapalooza for Paintball

While we were packing, the team pondered on their chances for the next day because WK had a mixed performance day, just like the weather. We were hot in the first half of the day but got cold just after that. Probably it was the fatigue getting to those that have played in Pekan and also to the ones that didn’t play there, or it could be something else.

NPL Klang - WK to fight!

Last night's team meeting on our decision to play or not to play the 3rd leg NPL has finally resolved.

We're in!

Kherox finally decided to end his 'holiday' sooner for the team. Thanks bro! Now we're back rockin!

Hope to play some good paintball this weekend. Wish us luck!. We'll try to post some scores probably on Saturday night.

Dear all,

Regarding the Platun PB Show, we were made to understand that there are some technical problem in the scheduling dept.
During early stage of planning, it was allocated 1 hours on aire.
But due to some miss comm, it was turn out to be half an hour only!!
So the editor/producer had to cramp everything from 1 hour to half hour, we pity him badly too. They had promise to improve it further by taking low priority out & put in more important one.

Please be patient & hope for the best. So please continue to stay tune to Platun at ASTRO Ria Channel4, 10.30pm every Monday.

You can also drop some e-mail to give your feed back at platun@astro.com.my
You view is important for the success of the show.

Thanks & regards

Pekan Fest - Part #1

Kaymo's place
It's almost 2 am, and we're waiting in front of our teammate's place. Waiting for him to get back from some dodgy dinner thingy and pass us some equipments. Numerous calls to his handphone went unanswered. After a quick supper at some restaurant near his place, we called again.

.....

No answer. Bangsat tul. Tido mati la nih.. (ke tak mau kasik lepas EGO7 tu? huhuhu..)

"So camner ni?" We all looked at each other and decided its best if we leave now. The trip to Gambang would take about 3 hours, then another 1 hour to Pekan. If we're lucky enough not to get lost.

"Okay. Jom blah la.." Hampeh nyer Kaymo..

"Nah amik ko! Pi la tido!"

The Trip
After a long 3 hours drive we managed to find out way to Pekan. Kherox was driving steadily, while Jr, Harry & Me, dozed in and out. Hehe... It's about 6.30am and the sky greets the sun from the east.

After about 25 minutes of driving, we've reached the main town. Pretty much deserted on Saturday morning. But then again, this is a small town, so everything probably is relax and calm, not as busy as the city.

Another few minutes we spotted the tournament venue, the Sekolah Sains Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah field. Looks decent enough. Now we've found the place, we decided to look around the small town for awhile and come back to the venue. Still too early I guess, since nobody was there yet. We took the opportunity to walk-the-field while the organisers and novices & closed category players slowly make their way to their tents. By 9am, the crowd has swelled up. We were told that there are 120 teams playing in closed category! Mak aihh!! and luckily they're playing only 4 games.

Players waiting for their team to be called into the field.

It's almost 10.30am, and we're on the move again. This time another 1½ hours to Kerteh - Terengganu, where we will be staying at a banglo by the beach! Hehehe... sempat lagi mandi laut ni kan? On the way there, we stopped by Pak Su's seafood but its not open until 11.30am. 30mins to go, so we ate a nearby stall and decided to return to Pak Su for dinner later. We reached Kerteh about 2.30pm and after abit of freshen up, we took a nap. Hehehe.. just plain tired.

Dinner at Pak Su
After a few hours later we woke up, it's almost 6.30pm. No time to go to the beach if we want to make it to Pak Su. it's a 1 hour trip at least.

"Aduh.. laparnyer.." Jom pergi je la makan.

A quick cold shower for everyone and we drove across state back to Pahang.

The place was packed! Haisehh.. "School holidays laa.." kacau betul. Found a table and immediately placed our order. Saw couple of familiar faces there as well. Hehehe..

It's packed at dinner time!

What did we orderd? Hmm.. rice, steamed fish, buttered prawns, chicken lemon, fried squid with dried chillis & baby kailans. "Lazat tuh!" Especially with an empty stomachs.

After 20 minutes of waiting. They're contemplating eating each other.

Food is here! Jom makan!!

After less than 20 minutes. No more food.

Time to head back to Kerteh. Long day tomorrow guys. The bill came to less than RM100 for 4 persons. Dropped by a petrol station to get some snacks & drinks and we continued our drive. We decided to go further ahead abit to to see "Hantu Api" near those petroleum refinaries. Took a few pics and head back to our place.

From far away, they looked like they're on fire

Reached our place just after midnight. Played some games and went to sleep. We have to wake up again in 4 hours time for another 2 hours drive to Pekan. "Penat wooohh"

Huh, what was it again? 8-1 to England vs Brazil? Hahaha..

Part #2 to be posted soon...

Pekan Fest - Part #2

7am - Just entered the exit to Pekan from Gambang. Wahhh!! Fogging! You can barely see 500 metres out! Cool! Its like Campaign Cup :P. Traffic was non-existant and we arrived at the venue soon afterwards.

Man.. its been awhile since we had our last competitive games. Wonder how this gonna turn up.

The guys suited up, check the guns, filled the tanks, filled the pods, stretched those muscles and discussed more tactics.

Here's our 5th guy. Nizam aka Battosai from Team Armada. He's a regular with our team on certain events.

We played 4 games in the prelims, in which we lost two. The heat is getting at everyone. Even the NPL Kuantan wasn't this bad. Or was it the same? Hehehe.. can't recall.

Probably the worst luck in my tourney history... I keep getting ball breaks in the loader! As long as we qualify for the next round, I don't mind.. but siol laa..

During the 1st game of the semis, somehow, we lost too easily. Weird, things weren't just working our way. But that's paintball. Hasnatah came up to us and said

"Korang nih main macam maner? Tak langsung macam WK!"

Hahaha... he's right, we're err slightly too reserved on the 1st game. The team regrouped, and we fought with more aggressiveness and we won the next two games to go into the final.

Kherox & Jr combined well to get the last Black Widows Rovers guy out when he made it past 50. They played really well, to secure the team a spot in the final.

Cayalah!

Captain of the day, Kherox looked relieved that the team made the finals.

Finals
1.30pm - dead noon! The organiser decided to play the 1st game of the finals sooner than scheduled, so that when Datuk Seri Mohd Najib Tun Abdul Razak, our Deputy Prime Minister comes, he can just watched the 2nd game and maybe just that one.

The finals were between WK & Killer Beez. KB surprised many when they beat Delta Rovers to get into the finals. We brushed off Black Widow Rovers for the final spot. Some rojak team from KL, named something something legion, went packing early. I saw Luke in the team, one fella from Perlis Hunter and a bunch of new faces.

So, we went ahead with the 1st game of the finals. WK won easily. No contest there. Returned back to our tents and getting ready for DPM arrival.

"Uh ohh... dah datang dah tu" Police sirens wailing in the distance.

Datuk Azalina Othman Said, the Youth & Sports Minister came first. Followed by Datuk Seri Mohd Najib Tun Abdul Razak a few minutes later. They took their place at the VIP tent overlooking field 1, wher the 2nd game of the finals will be commencing soon.

Oh.. right before that, we sang the national anthem, "Negaraku" and had the teams that made to the finals taken with the VIPs.

So the 2nd game of the finals started.

My gun jammed again and we're practically playing with 4 guns only just after 30 secs! KB took the opportunity slowly and they won it close. Damn. I couldn't lock my zone and probably my miorale is probably at all time low... On the way to the deadbox, I took off my speed feed lid, slowly tilt the gun upwards and let the remaining paint dropped behind me... what a waste. then i found the culprit. Few stuck paints jammed the cone. What luck!

I'm hoping for a better luck on the final game.

After refilling all thats needed, we went into the final game, with whatever paint we have left. i myslef brought only 3 pods, the others 4, 5, pods the most. Hehe.. we usually don't use up alot, but you never know when you needed it right?

Game on! - on the break, I shot nizam at the loader and we're down to 4 man in just 10 secs! Hah!?

Habis laaa...

Again my gun broke down. This time, ball break in the loader! I couldn't lock my zone again. Then it came down to the final two guys, Kherox & Harry, and they did very well to overcome KB and took the game home!

We won a really nice glass trophy with some pretty hefty sum of cash. Medals were handed by the Deputy Prime Minister himself. A successful weekend I must say.. we did pretty alright.

The entire tournament setup was pretty good, considering they have to accomodate more than 150 teams for all categories! Again, we reunited with the NPL marshals who gave us support & encouragement throughout this fight. And to Delta Rovers & Black Widow Rovers players, again.. thanks for everything and a great tournament.. even for a day.

Thanks to Nemesis Paintball Club and KBS for their hard work and dedication. Awe, Hasnatah and the guys.

Hope to see you guys in Klang.

I'll post more action pics when I get some.

Oh, later that nite.. we came out at TV1 news. hehehe..

From bernama news.
