Note; I took out the facebook links cause it screws up the post here. You can look up MY-NPL in facebook for more info. There are talks in creating a new Semi-Pro division for MY-NPL. Anybody knows the story on it?

Vendor teams are being upgraded to Semi-Pro status. Primarily to encourage D2 teams to make the jump to D1 wholeheartedly.

Nemesis Legion, Demonz Red, Delta Rovers, Raskal and 2 others will make their debut in Semi-Pro next year.

Indications are, the top D2 team will be pushed up to Semi-Pro every year thereafter. Although the promotion bracket might change as it usually does.

Winner takes all 5 man Race-2 format.

Peeps at NPL say it'll happen for sure but we're still waiting on something more official.

and D1 player status for Semi-Pro so D1 ranked players can hop back and forth between the two divisions.

Then what are the differences between the D1 and Semi-Pro status?

Basically, you still have like 4~5 teams in D1 (usually depending on political situation). Nama aje lagi syiok. Any changes in prize money & fees?

I was also told that there probably won't be anymore 7-man for top division. They reverting back to 5-man. Can't blame them as local teams have to split themselves playing few leagues and tournaments.

semipro play race-to format, while D1 maintain the 7-man format, nothing's change...
1 or 2 semipro are allowed to guest in D1, if not mistaken...

check pian's wall on fb.. he post it there..

i see, so top division plays little 'MSL' and D1 stays true NPPL style?

The divisional split mainly benefits the rest of the D1 teams as they won't have to face the Enam Jahanam of My-NPL which to me is a very good move.

The Race-2 format is a definite plus for spectators and fans alike as we'll get to see the top teams slug it out proper. Again a good change to the league.

The only point of contention is the winner takes all prize money. Dunno the vendor's reaction to it but Sunday's gonna be tense affairs for sure. For better or for worse. Good marshaling won't change things but bad marshaling on the other hand can be a disaster on the event itself since everything is at stake. It'll be the difference between getting money and having nothing at all.

Separating enam jahanam as you say, will only stunt the growth of top division. When would we have 8-12 teams in top division (consistently throughout the year) if no lower teams brought up to play with the big boys?

Again, the top division needs new teams and lots of it to make the MY-NPL attractive. It goes also to MPOC. Surely the new teams will struggle a bit and maybe drop out after a few legs, but it sure will be an interesting prospect to see 'David vs Goliath' matches.

Instead of consolidating with whatever teams we have and make a stronger pool, why divide them up (again)?
