My rants
Some points to note, most of us feel that the organiser should hire a mathematician, accountant or somebody good with numbers to tabulate all the scores. It's just not funny anymore.

Slight drizzle in the evening, didn't help with the condition of the field. There were at least two serious injuries occurred during the games because of the bad playing field. Something needs to be done here. Fix the venue or get a new one ;)

Reffing were inconsistent at times, and I'm pretty sure there were not enough reffs to go around. But I'm sure Ultimate Judge, Mr Jun will fix this up.

When we lost in the finals due to 'penalty' given in the last 60 sec. We knew there was something wrong. According to the rulebook (link here)

ROUND POINTS AWARDED:(1 point per round won)
a) Pressing buzzer or touching of opponent’s base by a live player.
b) Elimination of all opposing players.
c) A 2 for 1 or 3 For 1 penalty in the last 60 seconds of regular game time incurred by opposing team.
III)THE FINAL 60 SECONDS OF GAME TIME
- In the final 60 seconds of regular GAME TIME ,the marshals will signal and announce “1 MINUTE”.
Any 2 FOR 1 or 3 FOR 1 penalties incurred by either team after the announcement will result in the ROUND being awarded to the opposing team.

"The purpose of this rule is to stop the blatant playing on and overshooting that teams chasing the game have been observed to resort to. This rule is in particular directed towards players charging forward with total disregard of having been marked .The rule of having altered the course of the round will be interpreted very strictly against such a player and a 2 FOR 1 penalty will be given out."

IV) THE END OF THE GAME
- One team has scored 3 Round Points.(3 round wins)
- A 2 FOR 1 penalty is incurred by any team during the last 60 seconds of the game time.
- The 10 minutes of game time is up.

Unless there's a new version out there in the web, this is pretty much the rulebook we're using. What we got actually was just a minor penalty or 1 FOR 1 for a hopper hit. But we were told that 'ANY PENALTY' (instead of the one written in the rule book) will cause the point goes to the opposing team.

We didn't like the decision, but we took it. It's bitter yes, and we can only look for the next tournament and hope for the best. Race to 4 format really gets the adrenaline rush going. Tiring but exciting!

And yes yes yes! WCA team pit setup were retained. Great job in getting the air constant to the tents. Although it dropped a bit from time to time, it still better than running here and there for more air! Congrats again.

Oh, did you guys saw when Redza charged down on to Demonz Red with only a pod? That was awesome!

Oh, can we register 8 players for the next leg? ;)

PSP Announces Yellow as Restricted Color but allows orange

Paintball Sports Promotions Announces Yellow as Restricted Equipment/Clothing Color

Grayson, GA - January 13, 2010 - In an effort to maintain the highest level of competition while preserving the integrity of the sport, Paintball Sports Promotions (PSP) has been working with the top paint manufacturers in the industry to make sure competitors have access to the highest quality of paint available that does not cause staining issues with PSP participants, spectators or event locations.

While decisions are still being reached in regards to paint colors for the 2010 season, the league has declared yellow as a restricted color which is only allowed in limited amounts on equipment and clothing.

In previous seasons, players were not allowed to have orange on their equipment or apparel. This was referred to as a "protected" color, so teams knew that if they were shooting orange paint, it would not "blend into" the opponent's equipment/gear. Orange paint fill is no longer allowed at PSP events (as well as pink and red) due to its staining nature. Therefore, beginning with the 2010 season, PSP will allow orange equipment/clothing and change the protected color to yellow.

As such, players may not wear or carry yellow clothing or equipment on the playing field, with the exception that yellow is allowed on clothing if no wider than 0.5 cm at any point, and no more than 10% of any 5cm by 5cm square. This allows teams to wear most sponsor logos on their jerseys, but prevents someone from stacking yellow stripes or dots together in the shoulders or other critical area. Clothing and equipment that interferes with a judge's ability to officiate the game will remain prohibited.

In an effort to minimize the impact of this rule change on teams who currently have customized jerseys with yellow in excess of the new restrictions, teams may petition for a one-season exemption from new restrictions. To receive an exemption, the jersey must be a custom jersey and the team must submit a photo of the current jersey, the artwork used to print the jersey, and an invoice from the jersey manufacturer for the jersey dated on or after March 1, 2009. This information must be submitted by January 29, 2010 to tim@pspevents.com. Exemptions will only be granted if the jerseys will not have a significant impact on the effectiveness of officials, and will only be valid if the team name on the jerseys corresponds to the name the team is competing under and all players on the team are wearing the same jersey design.

The PSP rules will be amended as follows:
8.1.11.3: Deleted (footwear restriction)
8.6.3.2: Deleted (hopper restriction)

Add:
8.7.3. The color yellow is prohibited on any player equipment or clothing, except that a player's jersey, pants, gloves or shoes may have yellow so long as no part of yellow coloring is more than 0.25 cm from some other color, and no more than 10% of any 5cm by 5cm square on clothing or item is yellow.

8.7.3.1. For reference purposes, 'yellow' is any color similar to Pantone colors 101, 102, 107, 108, 109, 116, 3945, 3955, 3965, and 803, although any head judge may prohibit any equipment they believe interferes with the judges' ability to officiate effectively.

Paintball Sports Promotions will be kicking off the 2010 season with the PSP Phoenix Open March 19 - 21 at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona. This will be the first stop of the league's four-event circuit. Registration for this event opens online January 19th. For more information, visit www.pspevents.com or email camille@pspevents.com.

Note: So, it is all about the paint after all. I had no problems with the orange fill (used widely here in Malaysia) being staining or whatever. Since we don't have that problem (yet), should we still go ahead with the ban?
