Promaster World Championships 2011

17 International Team To Take Part In Paintball Promaster World Championships

KUALA LUMPUR, July 18 (Bernama) -- Twenty teams, including 17 professional teams from abroad, will battle it out in the 2011 Paintball Promaster World Championships in Pekan, Pahang starting Dec 6.

Organising Committee chairman Datuk Noreta Bustanuddin said the six-day tournament offers cash prizes worth RM300,000 in the professional category and RM100,000 for amateurs.

"So far 10 of the best teams in the world have confirmed their participation in the championships," she told reporters here Monday.

Noreta said the countries that will be competing in the professional category are England, United States, Russia, Australia, Hungary and Germany while 20 of the best teams in Malaysia and Asia will take part in the amateur category.

She said the tournament would give exposure and opportunity for local teams to gain experience when competing or watching the international teams in the competition.

Note: Hmmm... so much money involved, but in one of the worst location ever. Why not KL? This is where paintball is.

Sadly, it isn't true here. This has happened before. Big event, in the middle of nowhere, budget into millions, somebody comes out with thicker wallet for sure.

And these pro players (if it does happened) are paid to come and play.

Sigh. What's Persatuan Paintball Malaysia role in this one?

The issue that could happen is weather and accommodation. Dont the organizers know that Dec is the rainy season for east coast, together with frequent strong winds. The gotta be prepared to play in the rain and strong wind , and with those rains, spectators wont even come out in droves.

Accommodation wise...... there isnt even a decent hotel in Pekan. Nearest is in kuantan, and it could take about an hour just to reach Pekan from there.
