Support Earth Hour 60
VOTE EARTH
YOUR LIGHT SWITCH IS YOUR VOTE
For the first time in history, people of all ages, nationalities, race and background have the opportunity to use their light switch as their vote – Switching off your lights is a vote for Earth, or leaving them on is a vote for global warming. WWF are urging the world to VOTE EARTH and reach the target of 1 billion votes, which will be presented to world leaders at the Global Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen 2009.
This meeting will determine official government policies to take action against global warming, which will replace the Kyoto Protocol. It is the chance for the people of the world to make their voice heard.
Earth Hour began in Sydney in 2007, when 2.2 million homes and businesses switched off their lights for one hour. In 2008 the message had grown into a global sustainability movement, with 50 million people switching off their lights. Global landmarks such as the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, Rome’s Colosseum, the Sydney Opera House and the Coca Cola billboard in Times Square all stood in darkness.
In 2009, Earth Hour is being taken to the next level, with the goal of 1 billion people switching off their lights as part of a global vote. Unlike any election in history, it is not about what country you’re from, but instead, what planet you’re from. VOTE EARTH is a global call to action for every individual, every business, and every community. A call to stand up and take control over the future of our planet. Over 74 countries and territories have pledged their support to VOTE EARTH during Earth Hour 2009, and this number is growing everyday.
We all have a vote, and every single vote counts. Together we can take control of the future of our planet, for future generations.
VOTE EARTH by simply switching off your lights for one hour, and join the world for Earth Hour.
Saturday, March 28, 8:30-9:30 pm.

MY-NPL Round 2, JB - Press Release
LIGA PAINTBALL KEBANGSAAN MALAYSIA 2009
PUSINGAN KEDUA PADA 28 & 29 MAC 2009
KENYATAAN AKHBAR

Story from Kish
- A Datis player shouted "Don't give that guy his ID card - I've been in 3 WCA and I never get any" to a certain Malaysian player.
- A handful of Iranian teams pulled out at the last minute, protesting on the 'fixed' scheduling.
- There were medals, but no prize money - sorry.
- Referees were very bias, especially to their home teams. Go figure.
- Datis cheated, crowd saw it, referees ignored it.
- Tons Tons boycotted the 3rd/4th playoff because of poor refereeing. refer point no. 5.
- DRX was supposed to play in D1 and then changed their minds when they learnt Nemesis is playing in D2.
- Event is disorganised and poor communications between event staff really shows.
- One Malaysian team tried to 'avoid' paying the entrance fee, but dully did so in expecting huge payout from the prize money. Then refer point no. 3.
- It was rumored beforehand that this event will also serve as the meeting point for the discussion on UPBF and the whole paintball universe.
- A Malaysian paintball store tried to use a strong arm tactic and force Malaysia's top league to accept paint supply only from them or else they'll make a new league just for the heck of it.
- Malaysia paintball scene is no different from the US. We all try to kill each other and still put up a friendly face everytime we meet.

Johor to produce pro players in 2009?
Association hopes to produce professional paintball players
By GLADYS TAY
Association president Datuk Dr Abdul Kadir Mohd Salleh said since its members had performed well in national tournaments for the past three years, they were now aiming for greater heights.
“We were very weak in the first few years but gradually, we picked up from the experiences we gained by taking part in numerous competitions.
“Our players are lucky to have had the chance to play regularly with foreigners from Singapore and Philippines.
“This has helped them in improving their skills,” he said.
He added they were planning to send two teams, one above 18 and the other below 18 to compete in one of the leagues in US this year.
“We have not identified which of the players will be chosen,” he said during a press conference held in conjunction to the opening of the Dymanic Paintball Indoor Arena in Danga City Mall here recently.
Abdul Kadir said that the arena, measuring 55mX15m, gave paintball players another location to play the game.
“Players can now enjoy the game either rain or shine because this is the first indoor field in the state for such a sport,” he said.
He also said that a paintball competition would be held at the new arena on March 21 and 22.
The arena owner Mohd Amin Othman said scenarios provided include capturing the base, attacking the centre castle and search and rescue.
He said that the starter pack cost RM45 inclusive of facemask, markers and 100 paintballs.
“Training is also provided for beginners,” said Mohd Amin adding that four of his six sons were also active players of the sport.

Note: What do they mean by "professional" players? Get paid by playing paintball like the pros in the US?

MY-NPL '09 Event 1 - Utusan Malaysia
Medan Tempur Paintball
Oleh ABD.HALIM HADI
rekreasi@utusan.com.my
Pengarah Kejohanan NPL 2009, Mohd. Sofian Mohd.
Juara membawa pulang hadiah bernilai RM4,000.

Should we be worry already?
Does this sound like its helping for the growth of the sport? Lower division players are usually new players who are just getting into the sport, and they are most likely will be the next generation of ballers for years to come. Provided, the platform stays solid and better every year.
If things like these keeps happening, new teams will be discourage to play and other teams will just stop and lose their heart.
This was posted at JS Paintball about their recent MPOC outing. Please visit http://jspaintball.blogspot.com/2009/03/goodbye-mpoc.html. Red Sevens from Singapore had some problems as well, especially on the scheduling and overall format. Please visit http://singaporepaintball.blogspot.com/2009/03/red-sevens-clinched-4th-position-in.html.
With team blogs & forums, organisers & promoters can easily grab feedbacks from players & publics on how to improve the sport we love so much.
